Caughley Chocolate Cup & Saucer

An antique chocolate cup and saucer by Caughley. A rare Caughley Salopian blue and white chocolate cup and saucer c1780. The cup is in good condition with no chips, cracks or crazing and measures 45mm in diameter at base, 100mm across the top, 135mm at widest from handle to handle and 80mm tall. In comparison, the saucer has considerable wear with an old visible break repair, faded blue rim where the break repair was made and wear to centre of bowl. It measures 90mm in diameter at base, 157mm across the top and 50mm deep. (354gms)

The Caughley chocolate cup and saucer dated from 1780. The white base china has a subtle blue floral decoration, reminiscent of delph china.
The duo is in reasonable condition for its age and is a cabinet display piece rather than everyday crockery.
To maintain the condition of the Caughley chocolate cup & saucer, we recommend washing it gently when necessary.
