The vintage purple clay tortoise comes from Yixing in South Jiangsu in China. The area of Yixing is famous for its purple clay and the tortoise is a lovely example of one of its models. The purple tortoise is a good representation of the real animal although this model has a smile on its face which is very cute. The vintage purple clay tortoise would be a great addition to an existing oriental collection of quirky items and to maintain the tortoise in its current condition use a soft cloth and gently dust it when required.
