1930s Austrian Silver Compact
A silver Austrian compact from the 1930s. A superbly engraved 900 grade silver compact made in Wien, Austria. The lid design shows a squirrel sat in a tree expertly engraved with varied techniques to produce a multitude of textures. The engraving continues to the side and finishes with engine turned base. The inside of lid houses a mirror with a light gilt coating on interior. Single hallmark of 2W with a hoopoe bird to the side and inner rim of lid plus 900 mark on gilt interior. One visible dink to the squirrel otherwise in very condition. Measures 60mm in diameter and 13mm deep. Weight 53.5 grams.
