Egyptian Sandstone Scarab Bead

A single large carved sandstone bead of a scrab beetle. Hieroglyphics at the back. Most likely worn on jewellery or hair as a protective talisman. c1500-1200 B.C. In good condition with minor wear to extremities around the head. Still very usable as a bead today or repurpose as a pendant. Measures 33mm long, 22mm wide and 15mm tall. Weight 21 grams.

The Egyptian sandstone scarab bead features a large carving of a scarab beetle. On the reverse are a series of Hieroglyphics dating to c. 1500-1200 B.C.
The rare find will fascinate the collector of ancient jewellery, which is in overall very good condition.
To maintain the Egyptian sandstone scarab bead, we recommend using a soft cloth to polish it and preserve its shine.
