The silk on the lid is stamped with sellers mark in gilt for a shop in Cowes with year 61 - right in the middle of Queen Victorian's reign. The flowerhead of the pin has 8 gold 'petals' which have an old rose cut diamond to centre of each. The large pearl sits sunken in the centre.

The central amber is a generously sized oval shape with the silver calla lily flower stems extending out from one side and the flower head leaning over the top of the large amber to finish on the opposite side where the stamen balls protrude. There is no top and bottom to this brooch so it can be worn any way round. The large central amber is a cognac colour with the stamen balls in cognac, butterscotch and honey colours. There is something quite space age looking about this lovely brooch and will definitely attract compliments! In this photo, the brooch is angled so the large oval amber is seen diagonally laid and the balls are positioned bottom left and top right corners.
