The Victorian era dates from 1837 to 1901, when Queen Victoria died.
Beautiful silver items such as goblets, boxes, jewellery and Albert chains were extremely popular. Silver and marcasite brooches are a collectors dream, and we have a wonderful array of beautiful items in store.

The Victorian home became rather cluttered with heavy drapes and large, comfortable furniture, creating a rather formal environment.
The popular china dogs, sat on mantelpieces with happy hand-painted faces that we have ready and waiting for your viewing.

Staffordshire figures depicting famous people were extremely popular. The ornaments were decorative items that sat on sideboards and pianos. Silver frames were common, displaying images of important relatives in a person’s life as photography was now available..

The tourmaline is a grey/black colour and in a natural crystalline form and not polished smooth. The silver frame around the tourmaline is relatively thin in comparison but nicely executed with a plain flat silver frame around the edge of the tourmaline followed by a twisted silver band and finally set on a smooth round edged silver main frame. This brooch is all about the tourmaline! Black tourmaline is renowned for grounding the mind, relieving stress and shielding from negativity. Main photo of antique Victorian pipe displayed inside its case with the mouthpiece just sticking out over the edge. The open lid of the case is being propped open by a rock of desert sand rose. The inside is moulded and covered in olive green velvet. Although the end of the pipe is slightly sticking out over the end, it is clearly visible that a segment of the pipe is missing. This would be the clay bowl where the tobacco goes. It should be possible to find a replacement or make a new bowl. Add to basket

Main photo of glass &silver biscuit barrel seen from an eye level with the handles on left and right. The cut glass base is finely detailed which compliments that plain silver to the top. The silver handles have a upward loop with the ends hanging down to around the most bulbous part of the barrel. They are attached to the silver rim around the mouth. The lid also in silver has a fairly tall finial for easy removal. A lovely piece of late Victorian early Edwardian tableware. Add to basket
