Now the glass lining has been moved over to the left and situated between the lid and the box. The inside of box is lined with pink card(?)
The compartment with the glass disc is now moved across to the left displayed the tortoiseshell like lining of the middle deepest compartment. The tortoiseshell like lining is to both sides of the compartment.
Finally all sections of the compartments are now on display leaning and stacked against each other on the left; The lid, the glass disc, the tortoiseshell lining and lastly the bottom which just has plain wood.
The underside of all 4 sections showing the opposite side to previous photo. Bottom of base, Pink card (?) lining, tortoiseshell like lining, wood to underside of lid.

Turned Birchwood Snuff Box

A rare antique snuff box made from finely turned birchwood with 3 compartments c1840. The middle compartment has the most depth and lined. The shallow compartment below the lid has a glass disc with lining. The bottom compartment is just lined to one side. A single small possibly jet bead sits at centre of lid. Lovely patina to the wood. Measures 80mm in diameter and approximately 23mm tall. Weight 82 grams.
