The Georgian period in British history covers the time between 1714 and 1837.
Georgian silver is highly collectable; small pocket-sized items such as snuff and cigarette boxes are readily available in store.

The furniture in people’s homes became elegant and symmetrical, with delicate proportions. Satinwood and tulip veneers were popular, giving a warm glow to the furniture.

One notable style was the ball-and-claw-footed chairs, shaped like an eagle claw, made of mahogany. These sturdy pieces had wide seats and elegant, often shield-shaped backs.
Inside the home, brass candlesticks and heavy iron hearth dogs were proudly on display.

British potteries came into their own with Wedgwood ceramics becoming a must-have decoration. Beautiful mirrors, often with gilding and decorative leaves and flowers, provided light and opulence to the interiors.
