One of Limoges wonderful novelty porcelain boxes this one in the form of a yellow chilli. Beautifully hand-painted to look very realistic, this one has a tiny metal snail opener.

The cherries and their leaves and stems have been so realistically painted and look so lifelike there is a danger of wanting to eat them. The cherries are mainly an orange-red with a small yellow area at the top by their stem ends. The stems are a light leaf green, joined at the top by a short light brown stalk. In between each stem is a cherry leaf painted in 3 shades of green and showing the veins. A brass band hugs the 3 cherries in the middle with a small brass flower at the front opening section. The standing on the rocks in the water may be a hidden message of risk taking or following each other to all ends. Another classical piece with many tales that can be told. The garden has several species of flora. The image is so elaborate and fine that it could be hung on the wall like a painting with the metal rim acting as a frame.
