The tourmaline is a grey/black colour and in a natural crystalline form and not polished smooth. The silver frame around the tourmaline is relatively thin in comparison but nicely executed with a plain flat silver frame around the edge of the tourmaline followed by a twisted silver band and finally set on a smooth round edged silver main frame. This brooch is all about the tourmaline! Black tourmaline is renowned for grounding the mind, relieving stress and shielding from negativity. Owing to its size and weight, this brooch would ideally suit a heavy overcoat or jacket.

A very striking piece of vintage Mexican jewellery.

Like the diamond suite in a pack of cards, it is longer vertically. The cuff has 3 silver lines which join at the cuff ends. The 2 silver feathers, one on each side of the red onyx, sit top to tail to each other. One the left, the tip of the feather leans alongside the top lean of the onyx diamond shape and to the right, the feather tip leans alongside the lower lean of diamond shape. The ends of those feathers curl slightly outward and attaches onto the opposite silver band.

The main focus of this piece is without question the pendant. The carved ruby is a deep pink-almost cerise in colour and beautifully carved into a flower which covers the whole space. Around the floral ruby is a frame of silver with an outer edge of multiple coloured sapphires which include pink, blue, yellow, white and these enhance the floral ruby further. Above the ruby flower and multi coloured sapphire area is a bail separated section of 3 pearls (one at top and 2 below in a triangular formation) with a single pink sapphire at the centre. Above this is the generously sized large bail. The snake chain is suitable for this pendant and holds the weight well.

The Medieval fragment has a rectangular section which forms the ring front with 2 stylised floral images engraved in the centre. These could even be bramble or mushrooms. Lines have been scored around the rectangle edge. A short alloy section makes part of one shoulder and a longer strip of alloy extends all the way round to the back of the ring. These strips are set within the chunky silver band and have no decoration just plain gilt coloured metal. How wonderful to be able to wear an archaeological find on your finger!
